Adjustable Dumbbells Buy?
An adjustable dumbbell replaces an entire rack of weights in 0.1 m²: adjust the weight, work out, done. That leaves three questions — 24 or 40 kg, one dumbbell or two, and what goes around it? Here are the answers in five minutes.
The standard recommendation for beginners and the typical home gym routine is the Adjustable 24 kg dumbbell with twist grip for CHF 135.-: 15 steps from 2.5 to 24 kg, and the weight is selected centrally on the inside of the handle instead of separately on the left and right. Anyone who already trains and needs more load for rows, lunges, and deadlifts, takes the 40 kg version for CHF 185.- with 17 steps from 5 to 40 kg. Important: The price is per dumbbell — for bench press and curls it takes two. Both fit on the same Stand for CHF 120.-.

What are you up to?
The crucial question
24 kg or 40 kg?
Both dumbbells work on the same principle: adjust the weight, the rest stays in the storage tray. The difference lies in the weight range—and therefore in the question of where your training will be in a year, not where it is today.
Starts at 2.5 kg — low enough for shoulder exercises, rehab, and beginners — and increases in fine increments. For curls, shoulder presses, bench presses, and most exercises, 24 kg per hand will last a long time. More compact and easier to handle than the large version.
The right choice forBeginners, returning practitioners, and anyone looking for full-body training with moderate loads.
Starts at 5 kg and goes up to 40 kg per hand — the reserve for rows, lunges, deadlifts, and goblet squats where 24 kg quickly becomes too light. Built slightly larger (45.5 cm, aluminum core) and graduated in coarser 2 kg increments.
The right choice forTrained individuals who know their legs and back are capable of more than their shoulders—and who don't want to buy replacements in a year.
Rule of thumb: Anyone training today with 8–12 kg dumbbells or just starting out is well-equipped with 24 kg. Anyone already rowing or doing lunges with 16 kg and more will only need to buy once with 40 kg. The CHF 50 difference is cheaper than a second purchase.
New at the 24
The twist handle makes all the difference
The 24 kg dumbbell is available in two versions. The weight range is identical — 2.5 to 24 kg in the same 15 increments. The only difference is, how you choose the weight. And that is precisely the difference in everyday life between „quickly adjusted“ and „readjusted twice.“.
The weight will centrally on the inside of the handle selected, no longer left and right separately. One movement instead of two — the mechanism engages more cleanly, and accidentally unevenly adjusted pairs of ends no longer exist. Adjustments are only made while the dumbbell rests in the storage tray; outside of it, the mechanism is locked. The storage tray is included in the delivery.
The right choice foreveryone buying new — the CHF 10.- surcharge is precisely for the handle action you perform with every set change.
The proven version, our best-selling model for years: The weight is adjusted by turning the adjustment mechanism at both ends adjusted the dumbbell. Works reliably, costs CHF 10 less — and is the right choice if you want to complement an existing dumbbell of this design.
The right choice forBuyers on the dip and anyone who consciously wants the familiar mechanism.
Good to know: Both 24 kg versions and the 40 kg version fit on the same Stand for Adjustable Dumbbells (F-72381). Mixed operation is therefore problem-free — even if you later add a second dumbbell in the new version.
Before you order
A dumbbell is a dumbbell
The price is per piece — the scope of delivery includes exactly one adjustable dumbbell with a storage tray, not a pair. For unilateral exercises like rows, goblet squats, or farmer's walks, one is enough. For anything two-handed — bench press, overhead press, curls, lunges with two dumbbells — you need two: simply set the quantity in the cart to 2. The stand is also available separately — or you can just get the Home Gym Essentials Set with two 24 kg dumbbells and stand in one order.
The products in detail
Dumbbell, rack, set, and bench

Adjustable dumbbell 24 kg with twist grip CHF 135.- / piece
The evolution of our bestseller: Replaces 15 individual dumbbells in a 0.1 m² footprint. You select the weight centrally on the inside of the handle rather than on the outside at both ends. As a result, the mechanism engages more cleanly, and switching from your warm-up to your working weight takes seconds. Adjustments can only be made while in the storage tray — the mechanism is locked outside of it so that nothing shifts during your set. The ergonomically shaped, chrome-plated handle relieves strain on wrists and forearms.
Ideal for: Beginners to advanced, living room, office and basement gyms.

Ideal for: Trained professionals and everyone who doesn't want to buy twice.

Frequently Asked Questions
Adjustable dumbbells: the most important answers
Adjustable dumbbell 24 kg or 40 kg — which one should I buy?
For beginners and full-body training with moderate loads, the 24-kg version (15 levels starting at 2.5 kg, CHF 135) for years. Anyone who already rows or does lunges with 16 kg and more should take the 40-kg version (17 steps from 5 kg, CHF 185.–) — the CHF 50.– surcharge is cheaper than a later second purchase.
What is the difference between the 24 kg dumbbell with a rotating handle and the classic one?
Weight range and levels are identical (2.5 to 24 kg in 15 levels). The adjustment mechanism is different: with the new version with twist grip you select the weight centrally on the inside of the handle — one handle instead of two separate settings on the left and right, which allows the mechanism to engage more cleanly. The classic version is adjusted at both ends and costs CHF 10.- less. Both fit on the same stand.
Is the price for one dumbbell or for a pair?
The price is per dumbbell — the scope of delivery includes exactly one adjustable dumbbell with a storage tray. For two-handed exercises such as bench presses, overhead presses, or curls, you need two: simply set the quantity to 2 in the shopping cart. Two 24 kg dumbbells plus a stand are available bundled as Home Gym Essentials for CHF 370.-.
How does the weight adjustment work?
With the new 24 kg version, you turn the mechanism centrally on the inside of the handle to the desired setting; depending on the position, weight plates are picked up or left behind in the storage tray. Adjustments can only be made while the dumbbell is in the tray—outside of it, the mechanism is locked so that nothing slips during a set. With the classic 24 kg and the 40 kg versions, the adjustment is made by turning both ends. In both cases, the change takes only seconds.
What weight increments do the adjustable dumbbells have?
The 24 kg dumbbell has 15 increments: 2.5, 3.5, 4.5, 5.5, 6.5, 8, 9, 10, 11.5, 13.5, 16, 18, 20.5, 22.5 and 24 kg — identical in both versions. The 40 kg dumbbell has 17 increments: 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 18, 20, 22, 25, 27, 29, 32, 34, 36, 38 and 40 kg. The 24 has finer increments at the lower end, while the 40 continues upward in 2 kg steps.
Does the new 24 kg dumbbell with a twist handle fit on the stand?
Yes. The Stand Adjustable Dumbbells (Art. F-72381) is compatible with all versions: the new 24 model with twist grip, the classic 24 model, and the 40 kg version. Mixed use is also possible — so you can add a second dumbbell in a different version later on.
Do I need a stand for adjustable dumbbells?
It is not strictly necessary — the storage tray comes with every dumbbell. However, the stand solves two everyday problems: the dumbbells are within reach at a storage height of 59 cm instead of on the floor, and the weight can be adjusted without bending down. The Stand for CHF 120.- holds up to 100 kg and holds two dumbbells.
Is it okay to drop adjustable dumbbells?
No. The adjustment mechanism with its movable mountings is designed for controlled setting down, not for dropping—repeated dropping can damage the locking mechanism. Anyone who wants to drop their dumbbells at the end of a set should use fixed ones. Compact dumbbells with rubber coating. A mat also protects the floor and the device — suitable options are shown in the Soil Guide.
Adjustable dumbbells or fixed hex dumbbells — which is better?
For home, usually the adjustable one: A 24 kg dumbbell replaces 15 fixed dumbbells in 0.1 m² and costs a fraction of a complete set. Fixed dumbbells are the better choice if multiple people are training at the same time, quick changes without adjusting matter, or the dumbbells are dropped — which is why they dominate the gym, while adjustable ones win the home gym.
What exercises can I do with adjustable dumbbells?
All classic dumbbell exercises: bicep curls, tricep extensions, shoulder press, bench press, rowing, lunges, deadlifts, and goblet squats. With a adjustable weight bench (backrest in 11 positions) are added incline bench press, seated shoulder press, and supported one-arm rows — the exercises for which the large weight range is most worthwhile.
How much space do I need for the setup?
Very little: A dumbbell takes up around 0.1 m², the stand with both dumbbells needs a footprint of 59 × 48 cm at a height of 59 cm. Even with the weight bench (130 × 75 cm, movable thanks to rollers), the complete home gym stays under one square meter of storage space — you work out in the free space in front of it.
Are 24 kg per dumbbell enough for muscle building?
For most exercises and trainees, yes: for curls, shoulder presses, and bench presses, 24 kg per hand is challenging even for advanced lifters. They will become too light first in rows, lunges, and deadlifts — anyone who already trains heavy there is better off planning right away with a 40-kg version. Until then, a lot of progression can be gotten out of 24 kg by adjusting speed, rest intervals, and the number of repetitions.
