Frequently Asked Questions

How thick does a home gym floor mat need to be?

6 to 8 mm is enough for bodyweight and cardio. For dumbbell training where weights are dropped, we recommend 1.5 cm of rubber. For deadlifts with Bumper Plates, a platform is better.

Rubber or foam?

Rubber is heavier, more durable, and supports devices. Foam is lightweight and inexpensive, but compresses under point loads.

Does rubber flooring smell?

New rubber mats smell for the first few days. Aired out, the smell goes away after one to two weeks. Details in Floor protection mat guide.
