Product questions

Frequently Asked Questions about Wall Ball

What weight should I choose?

As a guideline: female beginners start with 4–6 kg, male beginners with 6–9 kg. The official CrossFit standard for wall balls is 9 kg for men and 6 kg for women. Anyone who primarily wants to do core and throwing training is well-advised with 3–6 kg; 9–15 kg are suitable for strength endurance and heavy throws.

What is the difference between a wall ball, a medicine ball, and a slam ball?

A wall ball is a large, soft medicine ball for throwing and catching — ideal for throws against the wall. A classic medicine ball is usually smaller and firmer. A Slamball is made for hard throws to the ground and does not bounce back. For wall balls and catching exercises, this ball is the right choice.

Do all weights have the same diameter?

Yes. All versions from 3 to 15 kg have a uniform diameter of 35 cm. The throwing and catching feel therefore remains the same across all weights — only the mass changes. This allows you to switch between weights during training without having to adjust.

What is the ball made of?

The shell is made of durable nylon, double-stitched, and is both moisture- and abrasion-resistant. Inside, a sand core ensures an even weight distribution and the characteristically soft, slightly yielding throwing behavior. This construction makes the ball durable, even with frequent throws against a wall or the floor.

What exercises can I do with the wall ball?

The classic are wall balls: throwing the ball at a target on the wall out of a squat. Added to this are core exercises such as Russian twists and sit-up throws, overhead throws, slams, partner throws, and coordination training. This makes the ball a versatile tool for CrossFit, functional training, and circuit training.

At what height do I need to throw?

The usual CrossFit target height is 3.05 m for men and 2.74 m for women. At home, you simply mark a height on a free, stable wall. Make sure there is enough headroom and a solid surface.

Can I throw the ball against the wall indoors?

Basically yes — the ball is soft and cushions the impact. The prerequisite is a stable, undamaged wall without sensitive surfaces or loose objects. Caution is advised with plasterboard walls or in rented property; a solid wall or a designated surface is ideal.

Do I need a pad for this?

For drops to the floor and to protect the ball and surface, a robust floor is recommended. Suitable is the Connect+ Floor — it cushions impacts and noise and protects your flooring in the home gym.

Who is the Wall Ball suitable for?

For everyone who trains functionally and dynamically: from beginners to CrossFit and functional athletes, as well as gyms and sports clubs. Because there are six weight levels, every fitness level will find the right ball — and multiple weights complement each other ideally in group or circuit training.
